Relaxants

I get very tense and my muscles go very stiff so it is important to take muscle relaxants, but I don’t like taking medicines if I can help it and anyway, they’re not very efficient and have horrible side effects. I researched this problem more and discovered that although Sativex is available and I was given permission to use it by the Health Secretary and local GP, who had a special meeting about it, the PCT blocked it. I found a company that produced Canachoc, which was available to people that had a GP’s letter saying they had MS. This was a bar of chocolate impregnated with cannabis but the company was raided by the police so they can no longer produce it as they have been disbanded. As the Canachoc did such wonders for my MS I decided to take it into my own hands and try making my own! I am not a smoker so had to make chocolate mousse using illegal cannabis which was incredibly difficult to get hold of !

It is very important to focus on all the positives, in what appears to be a big negative but sometimes just one positive thing can cheer you up. For instance, I might go through periods when I have bladder infections which means I get wet knickers and trousers. Yes, this is very depressing but I have to remember, if I’m dry in the morning, last night was a good night and therefore be thankful.

Botox
In October 2009 a doctor gave me some Botulinum toxin injections (Botox for short) in my arms and legs which relaxed me tremendously. He said this would be done every three months unfortunately I am still waiting six months on but it was incredibly relaxing physically and a positive step forward which I want to continue even if It means I have to chase the good old NHS!!

I have now had it done six monthly for just over a year, I have noticed bad side effects i.e. I was so relaxed, that I found it difficult to swallow and even breathe, this was really scary.

So I contacted my G.P who recommended I stop immediately. This doesn't mean its going to have the same effect on everybody, it has different pro's and con's for each individual. I rang the consultant who started me on botox, he agreed that I should asap.
